Mophology This drug is cylindrical ~ conical, 5 ~ 15 cm long, 8 ~ 20 mm in diameter, and some snapped and curved. The outer surface is yellowish red ~ reddish brown with lateral deep grooves. The texture is soft and easy to snap off; the snapped surface is flat. The xylem is white and arranged with reticulate ducts in the radial form; the cortex is yellowish red. No mechanical tissues are observed at the xylem and the cortex. It smells characteristic, and tastes sweet and slightly bitter.

Processing

simmered Rehmannia root : 1.Steam the clean rehmannia root in a water bath over a strong fire until black. 2. Take it out and dry in the sun. 3. Cut it into 6 mm thick slices and dry again in the sun. , charred Rehmannia root : 1. Parch the piece of fresh rehmannia root over a strong fire until it become scorched black and swollen with bubbles. 2. Sprinkle some water to quench the flame and cool.

Contraindication For the following symptoms of having diarrhea due to deficient spleen and for small eating due to deficiency in stomach, the medicine should not be used. It is prohibited to use Raphani Semen.
